i think the same book questions are interesting if they are about film (of course i do, because i like movies better than books).

maybe fritz lang's metropolis. it didn't change my life, but it changed my thinking about film as a form. i saw it at my favorite theatre with synthesizer accompanyment.

only one, ever: a river runs through it

my grandfather had recently died and he had taught me how to flyfish. in the ending scene where the man is manipulating the fly with his hands and the voice over is talking, essentially, about how "fishing is dangerous but what else am i supposed to do?" he looked and sounded just like my grandfather. i lost it.


A film you wish had been shot:

taking down manhattan a documentary about flying planes into the world trade center, as told by the hijackers.
