people say that of the north
they don't know sara

Now I'm all choked up. And it's the 5th time I read this brilliant piece of haiku.

i'm sure you'll feel differently when you don't have hormones coursing through your body.

seriously, though, i figured i was giving kingfeddy *so* much attention, and really, let's face it, you need some. i'm a huge fan of yours -- but you already know that. 17 syllables is not a lot to give to someone who adds a very exact glow to the world.

i'd have to think about it, but i'm pretty sure that you're the woman i'd most like to meet that i'm a "friendly" with ... i was going to call it "haiku for sara" but i wanted you to be surprised instead. as you know, i love a haiku punch line -- and i felt bad having you go cold turkey during my poetic absence.

i do have this vision: this vast, terrible, artic land ... and you with your tattoos. maybe like white crunchy icy snow everywhere and you on a rug of white fox, nekked, but not with any of your parts showing that would offend, say, my puritanical brother. i like the mental contrast -- although i don't like the fact that i laugh out loud as i type the sentence. i also like that you very very much are different on the inside than you appear on the outside -- or at least it seems that way to me.

i think you'll be both fun and funny as a mom, and you have a heart the size of the north sea. your child will be very, very interesting. hopefully something super auspicious will happen just before the birth, like some huge comet will suddenly appear.

but like i've said to you before, the internet is a great thing -- i'm glad i can add to your world. i'm also glad that mikkel is about 8,000 miles from here so it would be relatively hard for him to immediately come kick my ass for writing this (not that he's in my weight class).

there's nothin' i've said here that's not already in my haiku. i should stick to 17 syllables. i make more sense and the editing serves me well.

thanks for the comment. thanks for the readership. thanks for your contribution to humanity.

That was very flattering and overwhelming at the same time. I like you too, but you know that.
