strangely colored desert grasshopper -- las vegas

When I lived in las vegas (little girl), mom would pick us up from daycare after dark and sometimes we'd stop at the 31 flavors on the way home... they had tiny wooden desks where the top was welded onto the chair like in school, except the desktops were too small to fit anything on-- all lined up against the glass wall parallel to the ice cream display. We'd sit in the too small desktop desks and eat our ice cream (i always chose mint chocolate chip, til I was like, 16) and grasshoppers would pop themselves against the one-way glass, attracted to the fluorescent lights inside. You couldn't see them when sitting in the desks, just your own reflection and the reverse shaping of the double row of ice cream behind.

this is a great story.

did you know if you count the number of chirps a cricket makes in 15 seconds, and add 37, you get the number of degrees farenheit it is outside? i swear it's true, google if you don't believe me.

i believe you. and i believe this counts as stalker mode, reading old posts and replying to them ages after (didn't see yours til now, sort of redemption bound).

funnier story still... i TOLD you this story before, but it was so muddled and awkward you were just like, uh, yeah.

i blame it on the 'lair headiness (one of those stories, though i only remember the broad strokes as usual and not the exact when.)
